Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Ralang of the Zhongza Cow-grazing land 60 km to the southeast of the Batang County Town, Sichuan Province. It was named by the 3rd Regional Geological Reconnaissance Party of Sichuan Province in 1977.


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone. Composed of light-grey fine-grained limestone and massive limestone, with a thickness of 95.22 m in type section, but 1026.1 m thick in the Maowu area of the Derong County.

Lower contact

Conformable contact with the underlying Dingpuo Fm

Conformable contact with the overlying Bingfeng Fm

Regional extent

Distributed in the Derong area of the Batang County, Sichuan Province, and the Zhongdian County of Yunnan Province.

Fossils

Fusulinida such as the Misellina claudiae, Staffella moellerana, Pisolina excessa, Brevaxina compressa, which are similar to the Fusulinida fauna found in the middle and lower parts of the Qixia Fm in South China.
